Upgrading Tunnel Giessbach on Swiss National Road 8
Tunnel Giessbach as part of the Swiss national road number 8 with a total length of 3.341 meters, situated in the vicinity of Switzerland’s capital Bern, originally built in 1988, has been refurbished and has also been equipped with a secondary security tube over the past three years.
Following canton Bern’s high-quality requirements and expectations, Siemens Switzerland’s task as system integrator was to determine and select the most suitable and most performant camera hardware and video analytics software for this specific project. In total, 52 cameras and video analytics licenses, operating server-based, were needed to cover the tunnel’s total length.
For the video analytics software, Siemens selected their long-term partner Citilog to provide the preferred and most mature solution.
Giessbach tunnel will return to full operation by the end of 2024.
