VisioPaD
Overview of VisioPaD
VisioPaD is a video-based Automatic Incident Detection (AID) System. It uses standard existing cameras to identify incidents and accidents on roadways and provides quick alarms to Traffic Control Centers.
VisioPaD is the sole worldwide product that operates natively with PTZ cameras and:
- Is self-calibrating
- Does not require setup or configuration, thus making it an ideal product for PTZ cameras
It is a stringent time for traffic monitoring centers when the average traffic center has dozens to hundreds of video feeds to monitor and cameras are often used to verify incidents rather than detecting them. Citilog automatically monitors and detects incidents for you in real time, enabling a proactive approach to the monitoring needs of traffic operations worldwide.
Solutions by VisioPaD
Citilog's VisioPaD is an Advanced Video Surveillance system that provides Traffic Operators with an alarm (audible and visual) immediately after an incident occurs (within seconds), even before the consequences of an incident can be noticed by traditional monitoring. Citilog's software-based system uses existing video signals from any Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), fixed, Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ), analog, IP and any other camera, thus requiring no new hardware or infrastructure additions. These video signals are fed into Citilog's video detection units that process video signals and create instant incident alarms with on-screen highlighting of the incident to enable rapid identification.
VisioPaD Roll-Out
VisioPaD provides several integration and use advantages:
- No configuration required
- Automatic and dynamic calibration
- Adapts to PTZ and fixed cameras
- No preset position required
- Field proven technology
- Compatible with IP and analog CCTV Systems
- Integrated pre and post incident video recording
- Digital video recording
In addition, VisioPaD automatically adjusts to camera shifts, changes in the video feed, to all weather conditions, to variations in lighting and all traffic conditions to maximize video clarity at all times of the day or night.
Benefits
Citilog’s VisioPaD offers three main benefits: Mobility, Safety and Security.
Mobility:
It is widely recognized that unpredictable events such as stalled vehicles account for half of the congestion on highways. Quickly reporting and addressing an incident will decrease the duration of incidents, thus reducing their impact on driver delay.
Road Safety:
VisioPaD enables road users to be warned in time to reduce the risk of multiple accidents by giving traffic control centers the ability to respond and report about incidents quickly.
Digital video clips automatically recorded by the system for each incident are valuable tools to investigate the nature and cause of incidents. Responding adequately to an incident can minimize resource losses and save lives when time is of the essence.
Infrastructure Security:
In the past, cameras were only on roadways to monitor accidents, stalls and traffic congestion. They are also now used to identify "who is doing what and where" or "anyone being where they should not be." Deployment of VisioPaD enables far better enhanced security for sensitive infrastructures worldwide to address such new needs.
With a cost/benefits ratio of 26 to 1, VisioPaD is an efficient and cost effective solution for Incident Detection and Incident Management on roadways.
Sample Projects
VisioPaD is field-proven and has been deployed all over the world. Citilog's VisioPaD allows the SMART SunGuide TMC in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to utilize its video surveillance system in a proactive way by automatically reviewing the video streams from all its cameras and providing operators with alerts when incidents occur. VisioPaD improves incident management productivity, dispatch response times and performance measurement by providing early detection, incident verification and most importantly, user safety.
VisioPaD has been deployed by the Illinois Department of Transportation to enhance homeland security at key bridges and overpasses in East St. Louis. Pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras are in use now, deployed in East St. Louis on homeland security hot spot bridges and overpasses covering highways 55, 64 and 70 as well as on the Poplar Street Bridge, a major highway bridge spanning across the Mississippi River.
