| CEO's MESSAGE: |
|
Do you know Varna?
Varna is the second city by the size in Bulgaria and one of the most important Seaports on the Black Sea. Varna is credited with playing a critical role in contributing to a world economy as the crossroads of trade roads linking the Black Sea to the rest of the world and as a true melting pot.
Citilog’s 2nd Annual Distributor Meeting, in June 2009, turned Varna into a capital of the ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) industry for a week. This is where all our partners from around the world gathered together with Citilog as a venue to reinvent the world of Intelligent Video Surveillance. People from China, Korea, USA, Canada, UK, Brazil, Czech Republic, Italy, France, and Taiwan were there to celebrate the successes of “the” Citilog network.
Let me thank distributors and partners PROFICOMM, FORTRAN, BEIJING NAVIGATOR, SHANGHAI XIANJIN, SUNSKY, RITCO, DISTELCO, ENGEBRAS and BEACON for being with us on the black sea, as well as our largest shareholder, the Caisse des depots et Consignation through its investment branch CDC-INNOVATION. Let me also thank the strong Citilog team for its achievements in sales, marketing, technology, innovation and finance. A warm thanks also goes to Mrs. Vessela Todorova and Mr. Paul Hunsinger of the French consulate for their support, without whom this event would not have taken place.
Complemented with great activities that included sports like catamaran, a tennis competition, and golf competition, the 2nd Annual Distributor Meeting in Varna was a great success. Let us start planning together now for the 3rd annual Distributor meeting, wherever it may take us.
Citilog is now a great family, established with a strong network of partners sharing experiences, business cases, successes and even failures. These experiences enabled us to grow strong these past two years into a success story. We, together, are now in a phase of momentum to grow as a whole and establish an even better competitive position all over the planet.
With my Best Regards,
Christian Girardeau, CEO,

Citilog Strikes a First Project in Sweden with the Gnistangs Tunnel Citilog received an order to equip this tunnel on road N159 in Göteborg, Sweden with its latest generation of an Automatic Incident Detection (AID) system. The system will detect stopped vehicles and wrong way drivers in this 735 m long rock tunnel comprised of 2 independent bores running 2 traffic lanes each direction.
The AID system will not use conventional analog input but digitally encoded (Axis) video feeds, thus saving cost and facilitating a faster deployment. The system will also benefit from the recent improvements of video quality, found in Citilog’s recent software update, on the recording of video clips of incident, as well as general 24/7 recording.
This project was realized with the help of our Value Added Reseller, SVEVIA. More information on SVEVIA can be found at www.svevia.com.
Citilog Expands Coverage in Chile with Tunnel Order
Citilog received an order to install an AID system in the featuring Citilog’s MediaTunnel™ solution in the Acceso Sur tunnel in Santiago de Chile. This infrastructure comprises 2 tubes 2,500 m long and was designed to facilitate access to a very dense area of the capital city with increased mobility.
MediaTunnel version 6 will be installed to automatically detect incidents (stopped vehicles, slow vehicles, wrong way drivers, debris, etc.) from 50 cameras installed in the tunnels. The video streams will be IP encoded and directly processed by the Citilog system. The Citilog software-based solution gives flexibility to integrators to incorporate the Citilog AID technology into various architectures as well as keeping costs lower. Since 2004 a Citilog AID system has been operating in the Costanera Norte toll road in Chile contributing to the country’s safety in tunnels and highway infrastructure.
China: A Strong Market
The Chinese market is still booming with several new projects. The Hu-Cong-Su tunnel and bridge project totals 200 cameras, 175 covered by Citilog’s MediaTunnel™ in the 8km long tunnel and 25 equipped with Citilog’s VisioPaD™ (self calibrating software) on the bridge.
The Xizhang road tunnel totals 200 cameras, using Citilog’s MediaTunnel. The Dapu and Longyao tunnels total 144 cameras, also using MediaTunnel™. Despite the current state of the economy, the Chinese market remains very strong. These projects were realized with the help of our Value Added Reseller, Shanghai Xianjin. More information on Shanghai Xianjin can be found at www.sh-xianjin.cn/. |

MediaIntruder™
MediaIntruder™, a relative newcomer in Citilog’s product line, is an automatic real time intrusion detection solution based on video content analysis. It is uses 4D video analysis (3D modeling of a human being and long term temporal tracking) and was designed with two objectives in mind: address difficult-to-secure environments that have variable lighting, especially in outdoor environments. MediaIntruder integrates seamlessly into existing and future Citilog solutions.
MediaIntruder’s use in Citilog tunnel projects can include:
• Addressing security issues around infrastructure (TMC).
• Intrusion detection in tunnel galleries or around call boxes.
• Intrusion detection in tunnel tubes.
MediaIntruder’s use in Citilog bridge projects can include:
• Addressing security issues around infrastructure (TMC).
• Intrusion detection around call boxes or on shoulder.
• Long presence/loitering by pedestrians on pedestrian walk lanes.
Other use:
• Detect the presence of pedestrian on or around railways, etc.
Such detections are possible with MediaIntruder along with other Citilog AID features, within the same GUI. MediaIntruder has been successfully deployed in various tunnels or around bridges around the world. To learn more about MediaIntruder™, please visit mediaintruder |

SOLUTIONS FOR YOU |

Hazmat Detection in Tunnels
The presence of hazardous materials (hazmat) in a confined environment, such as a tunnel, is always an issue of concern for traffic operations centers. Whether hazmats are strictly forbidden, allowed in certain conditions (i.e., the escorting of certain types of hazmat), or free to circulate, their presence in a tunnel is always important in that key information for Traffic Operators is highly available in case of an incident or accident (a fire alarm may generate a different reaction if a hazmat carrying vehicle is present in the tunnel).
This is the reason why Citilog has recently introduced MediaTrack™, a module aimed at detecting vehicles carrying hazardous materials entering/exiting tunnels. By adequately locating the MediaTrack™ modules, the system can provide statuses and alarms complementing the detection of general stopped vehicles and smoke offered by Citilog’s MediaTunnel™. To learn more about MediaTrack™, contact us at citilog@citilog.com. |
